Use of the iBTVM requires an Android™ tablet (supplied by customer) and purchase of associated software (PLS, TSS). The iBTVM comes with the iBTVM VM Lite app, allowing for basic collection of meter readings which can be downloaded into a spreadsheet program. Data collection for CIS surveys requires the Pipeline Survey (PLS) application which the wizard will add by default. You may also purchase the Test Site Survey (TSS) application by checking the box below.
NOTE: Viewing and manipulating data gathered with the Test Site Survey application requires a data managment program such as ProActive. Checking this box will also add one copy of the Single-User ProActive application to your cart. If you require a version of ProActive that supports multiple users, please abandon this wizard and call the M.C. Miller sales team so that we may help you find the proper version for your needs.

Data Probe and Electrode Options

Do you require Fixed Electrode data-probes or Detachable Electrode data-probes?

"Fixed Electrode" Data-Probes are assembled with non-detachable RE-5C type reference electrodes, while the "Detachable Electrode" Data-Probes incorporate a universal adapter that allows the attachment of various electrode types to the units, including the RE-5C, the RE-7 and the IonX Calibrated RE-5C electrode types.

How do you plan to dispense the trail wire?



When a wire measurer and a counter/audible display unit are used in conjunction with a trail wire dispenser system, an audible signal is generated every 2.5 feet (or every meter, in the case of the metric system) and the operator triggers readings in response to the audible signal. Alternatively, readings can be triggered automatically via a trigger cable. Automatic triggering is not possible for Combined DCVG/CIS surveys, as in this case the DCVG voltage is recorded first (at each measurement location) and the CIS voltage recordings are triggered internally by the data-logger itself.

In the absence of a wire measurer/counter system, periodic stationing correction can be achieved via the Gx data-logger software at survey flags or known stations, such as test points having known station numbers.

Switchbox options

Will you collect both DCVG and CIS data on a single pass down the pipeline?

Both DCVG and CIS data can be collected at each measurement location on a single pass with the addition of M. C. Miller's "Switch Box Controller", which automatically switches the reading configuration from "cell-to-cell" to "pipe-to-soil" at each measurement location. Although a single pass down the line is convenient, the process requires a time period at each measurement location corresponding to several current interruption cycles.

If you answer "Yes" to the above question, a Switch Box Controller will be included in your package. A "No" response will indicate that you plan to perform separate DCVG and CIS surveys and, therefore, a Switch Box Controller will not be necessary. Note: Separately-performed surveys are also possible in the case of a package that includes a Switch Box Controller, as appropriate cables (and dual-probe adapter) are provided in either case.

PC Software

PC-side software is required in order to download survey data from the Gx data-logger. You are required to use either our ProActive program or our MCM_ESD program. The MCM_ESD program is supplied “free-of-charge” with the data-logger, however, its functionality is limited as indicated below.

With regard to pipeline survey data, the ProActive application can be used to store, edit and graph the data acquired directly from the data-logger. In addition, CIS and DCVG survey data can be integrated graphically with other data, such as ILI, Depth-of-Cover, PCM and Soil Resistivity survey data obtained from the same pipeline.

The MCM_ESD application only allows the CIS and DCVG survey data to be downloaded from the data-logger and exported to Excel.
